Storyteller Sahand Sahebdivani

Sahand Sahebdivani (1980) is co-director of The Amsterdam Storytelling Festival and is the Netherlands’ best known storyteller. He has performed at many Dutch and international venues, both solo and as part of larger ensembles.

In 2004 he established Mezrab, in Amsterdam, which has since grown into one of the most prominent storytelling centres in the world.

Sahand came to the Netherlands at age 3, a refugee of the Iran-Iraq war. His own experiences, and those of his family, form the basis of most of his work. Besides his work as a storyteller, Sahand is also a writer, and father to twin daughters.
